Abstract
Summary
The Central North Sea is a mature area where seismic imaging is used for the on-going development and production of existing fields and continuing exploration for new discoveries. However, there are many challenges to successful imaging, especially for deep targets below the BCU. Seismic acquisition and imaging continue to evolve rapidly and enable many of these problems to be tackled more effectively. Here we look at the impact of recent developments in a number of key areas, namely: surface and internal multiple attenuation, near-surface and channel velocity modelling and velocity model updating sub-BCU. We also look at the benefits brought by the use of a broadband processing sequence.
