Abstract
Summary
In this paper, I solve the two-way wave equation for detecting primaries and internal multiple reflections scattered by every feature of the impedance and velocity model. My solution leads to a method for modelling and discriminating primary reflections and internal multiples. The methodcan be used foreither the analysis of the modelled internal multiples or for adaptively subtracting the internal multiplemodel from the actual surface seismic data. Reliance on causality makes the method almost obvious for 1D propagations and 1D models, and the method can be generalised to the 2D and 3D cases.
