Abstract

Summary

This paper presents the detailed concept of Poisson Damping Factor (PDF). We analyze the characteristics of PDF. The test on the real data indicates that the PDF is sensitive to the reservoir fluid property and water saturation, and can be used to detect the reservoir fluid properties and predict the gas saturation. The PDF, which has no explicit density item, relates only to compressional wave impedance and shear wave impedance, so we can obtain stable pre-stack inversion results based on conventional seismic record, which has customary quality. By applying it to the field data, the inversion result demonstrates that the effective method is powerful to quantify seismic interpretation.
