Abstract

Reservoir models can take the form of static geological models used prior to production, dynamic simulations used to aid production or a combination of the two. Image log data has traditionally been used to contribute geological elements to these models such as facies distributions, fracture orientations and populations and constraint on anisotropy. Until now these contributions have remained relatively separate from other disciplines, such as rock physics and geomechanics, ignoring their interdependency. This paper attempts to demonstrate the relationship between these elements and illustrate how their integration can lead to improved reservoir models and criteria used to isolate optimal exploration or production criteria.
