Abstract
Summary
In this study an analysis and simulation workflow is presented, that explains why certain areas along a fault are potentially showing increased fracture permeabilities and highlights how one can estimate from the structural inventory in which areas the fractures are most likely open due to the interaction of the existing faults. The fracture mechanical analysis discusses the stress redistribution around the fault tips to understand how it may influence fracture permeabilities. A simulation example using the XFEM code roxol shows the superposition of different stress alterations in a generic reservoir block.
