Abstract
2-D rotated-staggered grid finite-difference (RSGFD) scheme is widely used in elastic modelling. Conventional numerical source implementation methods like forcing function method (FFM) and initial value method (IVM) encounter difficulties when a real or theoretical wavelet is expected to be simulated in 2-D RSGFD modelling for migration/inversion purpose or experimental purpose. We developed IVM based on wavefield construction and backward extrapolation within a short period of time in a small computational domain. It allows generating expected P-wave wavelet in 2-D RSGFD modelling efficiently and stably. Numerical modelling examples illustrate that our method can generate very similar waveforms to the expected wavelets.
