Abstract

Summary

Myanmar is a key emerging hydrocarbon area, but it is understudied. Aiming to resolve some of the outstanding regional geology issues, we have reviewed data from the public domain and integrated them with Getech’s Drainage Reconstructions, Palaeogeographic Reconstructions and Earth Systems Models. Our analysis suggests that during the Eocene-Miocene, detrital sediments were shed into the Bay of Bengal from the local sediment sources in the Indo-Burman Ranges and the surrounding areas in Myanmar.
