Abstract

Summary

In summary, a new method is proposed to estimate the saturation of the carbonate reservoirs containing mixture porosity, vuggy porosity and fracture. And in actual fact, the new method is a modified Archie formula. What is more, we assume that the combination of matrix/fracture and matrix/vug in series. The research conducted to develop means of calculating saturation for carbonate reservoirs presented in this paper is inspired by the availability of modern tools (e.g. deep investigate double lateral resistivity logs, resistivity imaging logs, neutron logs, density logs, acoustic logs, natural gamma ray logs et al.). The saturation value calculated by the new method is in great agreement with core analyzed saturation value.
