Abstract

Summary

In marine seismic acquisition, multi-level airgun array composed of subarrays at different water depths can effectively attenuate the source ghost reflection. It enhances both the low and high frequency contents of marine seismic data and especially the amplitude at the notch frequencies. Therefore the spectrum bandwidth of airgun array signal is broadened. A field acquisition experiment is conducted to verify the advantages of multi-level airgun array. However, the spectrum notch is not perfectly filled in this experiment. Based on the generation and compensation of airgun signature notch, a better arrangement of multi-level airgun array is presented to sufficiently fill the amplitude notch within the effective frequency band and to achieve a broader and flatter amplitude spectrum.
