Abstract

Summary

Mineral delineation and its estimation which is commercially viable is being done by different geophysical methods. In this work we had demonstrated the use of Self Potential dataset acquired over South West Purulia Shear Zone with Particle Swarm Inversion based method. The existing methods for detecting ore bodies have their own merits and demerits to resolve issues of accuracy, resolution and cost. The results obtained were used in order to understand the complex geological setting of the area. The method was found useful for delineating the presence of multiple bodies over the profile. Before application to the field data, the inversion scheme was tested with additional random noise on synthetic SP response. For the case study, the causative source were modelled as inclined sheet like anomalies. The robust performance of the algorithm was found suitable for estimation of width, depth, conductivity distribution and other parameters associated with the causative source.
