Abstract
In this paper, we present a case study of fracture-cavern detection using 3D P-wave seismic data from Tarim Basin in Western China. The target layer is buried deeply with developed carbonate fractured-vuggy reservoirs. Fractures provide the main hydrocarbons migration path and caverns are the main store spaces in the study area. We focus on the prestack azimuthal frequency gradient to characterize the meso-scale fractures. For the macro-scale fractures, we analyze the poststack attributes, such as variance, curvature and ant-tracking. Also, we study the poststack amplitude and peak frequency attributes to describe caverns. The prediction is correspond to the borehole data and gas production. And all of the above results help us to develop insights of the distribution of fracture-cavern in this area.
