Abstract

Summary

Near surface attenuation is a complex problem because of the variation of rock properties and the change of geological structure. Most of previous studies on near surface attenuation is conducted by theoretical modeling, numerical simulation, and laboratory study using core samples. To further study the near surface attenuation mechanisms, we designed a physical model to simulate geological structure with different quality factors, which contain vaults, faults and thin sandstone layers, and to investigate the atteanuation behavior of seismic waves due to various geological structure. By comparison the actual parameters and the design parameters for the physical model, it can be confirmed that we accurately designed and manufactured the seismic physical model of near surface.
