Abstract
The Wisting discovery is a shallow (250m below seabed) oil field in the Norwegian Barents Sea. The reservoir has been buried deep and later uplifted, and this has altered the rock properties of the reservoir. In addition, the field has a very active tectonic history that may induce anisotropy and HC containment risk.
The Wisting field is a unique seismic laboratory with a wide range of data; 3D seismic data and 2D site survey seismic data, VSP-data, an extensive well log suite, and 3D CSEM data have been acquired over the field. During the geophysical reservoir characterization, we observe discrepancies between geophysical data from the different domains. To investigate the discrepancies, a WAVSP and a ZOVSP were acquired in the vertical Hanssen well. The borehole seismic data was integrated with borehole acoustic data, with site survey 2D seismic and with 3D seismic data. This integration required a detailed cooperation between the different domains to ensure that the results from each discipline also matches the results from the other domains. In this study we will show how cross-disciplinary integration of the geophysical data is improving our understanding of the Wisting field and the subsurface challenges that we have.
