Abstract
Conventional statistical well based facies distribution generally has a reduced lateral connectivity within the reservoir facies resulting in pressure transmission baffles across the field. This leads to low pressure support in some parts of the field and hence a low production forecast from wells in these parts. For optimum field development and realistic production forecasts, capturing the correct inter-well connectivity is of utmost importance. This paper evaluates an alternate method of facies distribution using a seismic derived Geobody which enhances the interwell continuity and lateral connectivity of the reservoir facies. The dynamic simulation of this model gives a better history match with respect to pressures and well productivities. The use of Geobody has provided a better characterization of the thin reservoir sands and further helped us build an improved reservoir model leading to more robust production forecasts and reserves estimates.
