Abstract
Pore pressure and stresses are one of most important parameters in reservoir characterization and geomechanical model construction [6], especially in case of so called unconventional formation, in our case low permeability shale gas. Both can be estimated with two different methods – directly, basing on borehole measurement and indirectly with the use of seismic data. Prediction of spatial distribution pore pressure resulting from seismic data application requires calibration with the pore pressure from well log data to find the optimal correlation in absolute value. In the paper, authors present the new method which allows to find better match between pore pressure gradient of the field predicted from seismic to the pore pressure estimated based on D-exponent method. The results strongly depend on resolution and frequencies range of seismic data, which was modified in the spectral domain according to the idea described in the Patent nr 218109 [3]. The details of pressure variation and higher resolution of pore pressure curve resulting from the approaches presented in the paper are better suited for well planning and safer drilling, including casing and mud weight designing.
