Abstract
The modern interpretation of well logs carried out to study the properties of rocks is two-fold. The first approach is “traditional”, the main purpose of which is selection and determination of reservoir properties of productive target zones and estimation of reserves of hydrocarbons. The second area is used in seismic projects and uses rock-physics, which objectives are to obtain a continuous characteristic properties of rocks as a reservoir and non-reservoir, characterized wells (including non-target intervals) in terms of their elastic properties (ie, the properties that affect the passage of a seismic wave through the formation), deposits build petrophysical model in the elastic properties (VP, VS and bulk density), to establish the relationship between elastic and reservoir properties deposits. The resulting petroelastic model makes the basis for choosing the methodology of seismic inversion and provides rock types (know as “lythotypes” in the elastic properties of the field).
