Abstract

Summary

At the end of 2016 LLC “Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha” (OC “Rosneft”) and Schlumberger successfully performed the pilot project of horizontal wells drilling with the new multilayer bed boundary mapping while drilling technology at the Srednebotuobinskoe oil and gas condensate field.

The main problems were to detect oil-water contact to provide appropriate distance away from it during well geosteering. The new technology application successfully copes with that problem and in additional provided valuable data about internal structure and features of the Botuobinskii horizon in real-time. The new acquired information explained some ambiguous log behavior that had been met before while drilling other wells at the field.

The technology of remote formation boundaries mapping made it possible to understand some peculiar geological features of the reservoir and to identify oil-water contact position.
