Abstract

Summary

The paper describes the features of drilling horizontal wells on Srednebotuobinskoye Field (Eastern Siberia). Targeting a horizontal wellbore plays a decisive role in the development of a reservoir with a gas cap and underlying water. From the geological point of view, the geometry of a horizontal section is also influenced by the presence of a dolomitization zone in the near-top part of the formation with poorer reservoir properties and decreased net sand thickness. The described horizontal drilling strategy allows to enhance oil production and to improve reserves recovery.
