Abstract

Summary

Central Italy, eastern onshore and adjoining Adriatic Sea off-shore, along the front of the Appenninic chain foredeep, is characterised by know evidences of an active petroleum system, proven by subsurface discoveries, outcropping heavy-oil fields and even a natural “oil spring”, reported since antiquity. In this work we present the dataset we have been re-constructing in 3D at different scale, and discuss the main elements of this active petroleum system from Source-Rock intervals, to the key Reservoir/Seal intervals, investigated by wells and partially outcropping along the NW flank of the Maiella Mountain.
