Abstract

Summary

A workflow is described of constructing a discrete fracture network (DFN) from microseismic attributes and then validating the network by microseismic geomechanical modelling. The modelling reconciles an earth model, DFN and injection details with the observed microseismicity. The model is calibrated by quantitatively comparing modelled and observed microseismic deformation. The calibrated model can then be used to optimize the hydraulic fracture and completion design.
