Abstract
The Thebe discovery was proven in 2007, however the field is yet to be brought on to production. This study looks at undertaking a development based analysis through cognitive interpretation to identify and delineate potential risk and uncertainty of the discovery, along with identification of any future potential in the Thebe area. Although detectible by a large scale fluid contact in seismic data, the Thebe discovery would look like a relatively low risk project. However, a cognitive interpretation approach highlights a number of geological risks to the hydrocarbon play that would commonly be missed though conventional methods. Highlighting these risks whether they are relating to fault seal capabilities or field delineation are vital components of and fields development plan. Only two wells are located in and around the Thebe discovery, as a result a number of differing hydrocarbon plays and prospects have not been tested. Within this study a number of potential targets have been identified throughout the Thebe area as a working hydrocarbon system is present.
