Abstract

Summary

Our strategy is to construct a symmetric matrix incorporating both the PML and the dispersion-minimizing property.

We introduce a symmetric form of the PML for 2D Helmholtz equation so that a numerical factorization of a sparse matrix gets efficient. It reduces computational time and memory consumption. The symmetric PML equation is more suitable to applications utilizing Helmholtz equation than the nonsymmetric PML equation.
