Abstract

Summary

We present a field test that was undertaken off the coast of eastern Africa to demonstrate the compatibility of a multimeasurement towed-streamer system and its full 3D receiver-side deghosting with a wide-azimuth (WAZ) style acquisition.

Comparison against a narrow-azimuth (NAZ) style acquisition shows deghosting and reconstruction quality to be equivalent for both near and remote source data. While the assessment of full multimeasurement (P, Az, Ay) wavefield separation versus a subset volume using the hydrophone-only data, indicates an improvement in terms of receiver-ghost attenuation and resolution.
