Abstract
In this case study we will demonstrate how the application of modern imaging and model-building methods to a newly-acquired dual wide-azimuth (BiWATS) dataset has allowed us to take a major step towards a better subsurface image in deep offshore Angola Block 32. In this block presence of dense Allochthonous salt canopy and complex sediment deformations with steeply dipping carbonate layers creates serious difficulties for seismic imaging and velocity model building. Nevertheless, there is a requirement of an increase in the precision of the model, and in particular the salt geometry, in order to achieve an interpretable image. The BiWATS data enabled us to attempt to develop such velocity model and associated better subsurface image.
