Abstract
This paper presents an integrated workflow from seismic reprocessing to geological modelling applied to a carbonate reservoir in which the characterisation objective was to optimize the lithology (limestone and dolomite) and porosity modelling driven by inverted elastic properties.
Thorough seismic reprocessing was carried out in order to enhance amplitudes and reduce multiples. The improvements on vintage processing were monitored throughout the sequence using a Quantitative Quality Control procedure to ensure optimal results. A pre-stack stochastic inversion allowed 1) the integration of geological concepts in the inversion process, 2) the combination of the vertical resolution provided by the well logs and the lateral resolution provided by the seismic data and 3) the representation of the lateral variability of the reservoir properties through well controlled multiple realizations. In this project special care was given to properly incorporate the stratigraphic framework and the geological trends in the seismic inversion process.
As a result, the geologically consistent set of 3D elastic realizations provided different possible representations of the reservoir heterogeneities based on an early integration of all available geological and geophysical information. These 3D constraints were then input in the iterations of a stochastic geomodelling workflow of reservoir facies and petrophysical properties.
