This paper evaluates the proposition that a multimeasurement system that supports subsequent reconstruction of virtual cables for denser crossline sampling holds benefits in exploration settings where high resolution data is a necessity for identifying and evaluating prospects; benefits include reduced time and maximizing use of the 3D deghosted and reconstructed datasets produced real time onboard for a large scale acquisition program. The experiment highlights the benefits of using 12.5 m in the crossline direction vs 25 m on final migrated seismic sections, amplitude spectra and geologic attributes from interpretation system. The results achieved leverages the multimeasurement wavefield reconstruction to yield solutions best suited to resolve the geological complexity of this particular region. It demonstrate that with these technology and approach it is possible to very efficiently acquire a development type of data density (including cross-line component) in the exploration environment.
