Abstract

Summary

4D time-shift data shows different characteristics in legacy and 4D dedicated surveys, where the later shows higher correlation with reservoir production mechanisms and well activities. Due to short turn-around in acquisition and processing coupled with frequent monitoring, production changes are more evident from time-lapse signals and thus easier to be interpreted in the frequent repeat surveys. Having multiple surveys, we calibrated the stress sensitivity parameters in our rock physics model using time lapse time-shifts information at well locations where dynamic reservoir properties are available from production data. This study shows how hysteresis or imperfect stress recovery could lead to overestimation of the unloading behavior of the rock during an injection event.
