Abstract
Summary
Microseismic measurements are detection-limited and this poses problems for the recovery of statistical summaries of the event sets, such as the magnitude (b-value) and spatial (D-value) distributions. We present case study examples, together with a straightforward method to identify situations where the recovered spatial and magnitude distributions are not independent. We highlight the type of interpretation difficulty that can occur, and which is partly mitigated by the proposed method.
