Abstract

Summary

The Ayoluengo field, commonly cited as the only oil field in onshore Spain was discovered in June 1964. Commercial production started in 1967 and now, 50 years later the field is still active, with an average production of some 100 barrels oil per day and a total cumulated oil production of nearly 17 million barrels of oil. Now, even after years of intense exploration activity, surprisingly the Ayoluengo field still remains as a unique oil discovery, being the only onshore commercial oil field not only in Spain, but also in the entire Iberian Peninsula.
