Abstract
Summary
The objective of this paper is to develop a methodology aiming at identifying near surface hydrocarbon pollution or natural seepages by their impact on the vegetation detected with remote sensing techniques. The applications are both for environment monitoring and exploration. The present case study is on a former production site were remediation is performed. Preliminary lab work on plants was performed to guide the image analysis, but this work cannot fully take into account all the in-situ parameters. Multi-temporal, multi-spectral very high resolution images and classification methods are applied to identify a known polluted spot and detect other potentially affected areas.
