Abstract

Summary

Sensitivity analysis of important parameters in porous media is a helpful method to better understanding, and both quantitative and qualitative prediction of the applicability of a recovery process. In this study, a sensitivity study of immiscible forced gravity drainage, or Gas Assisted Gravity Drainage, enhanced oil recovery process in heterogeneous porous media was performed. Based on dimensionless groups which are dominated in the process, sensitivity study of the process by Inspection of the recovery plots after 2 pore volumes injection against dimensionless numbers and physical interpretation of dimensionless groups, leads to identification of different flow regimes. Results show that the reservoir heterogeneity generally decreases the efficiency of the GAGD process. In addition, this process is more efficient in the reservoirs with moderate oil viscosity. Moreover, the effect of capillary number and gravity number should be analyzed with respect to different flow regimes namely, gravity dominated, viscous dominated, and capillary dominated.
