Abstract
The main objective of the four year lasting research project Stiromas was to verify applicability of a pulse pressure technique for hydraulic fracturing. Laboratory tests on various rock types preceded the in-situ application. The aim of laboratory tests was to determine necessary fracturing pressures and to compare pulse pressure efficiency to the common linear pressure fracturing method. Based on the laboratory data, in-situ hydraulic fracturing tests were designed. During the actual hydraulic fracturing, pressure, flow and temperature in the injection borehole together with pressure in the five surrounding monitoring boreholes were monitored. Effect of the performed fracturing was evaluated by means of change in hydraulic conductivity of the rock environment given by the Lugeon test before and after the fracturing.
