Abstract

G033 Abstract 1 A mixed approach in depth domain consisting of data driven velocity determinations integrated with geologic model-based strategies was successfully implemented in a case of (land) sub-basalt seismic imaging. Forward modeling in the form of finite difference acoustic modeling was used to verify the different geologic hypothesis prior to application for depth imaging. The synthetic gathers were compared with the actual recorded shot gathers trying to fit the different seismic phases simultaneously (i.e. including reflected and refracted events at all offsets).
