Abstract

The Ordovician can be divided into four main depositional units among which the most prolific one is unit IV. This cycle is defined at the base by a major regional unconformity called the “Taconian”, overlain by peri-glacial sediments from open marine environment. The objective of the study is to try to reconstruct the complex facies deposition and their associated lateral variation in reservoir properties. This case study is based on several available datasets: cores data (description, SCAL), borehole imaging (FMI), seismic 3D, log responses and petrophysical interpretation. In addition, seismic inversion has been performed on the study area in an attempt to better define the sand bodies extension and potential connectivity. This work assists in locating the best reservoirs for exploration targets. A depositional model across the area is proposed and discussed.
