Abstract
Information and knowledge about orientation and characteristics of the pore space is important in a broad field of engineering geoscience. Different samples of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks had been studied to derive information about characteristics, size and orientation of the pore space. Oriented measurements of directional parameters like permeability, elastic properties and thermal conductivity of hand samples had been carried out. This directional data can be compared among each other. In addition, also isotropic parameters like density, porosity and heat capacity had been measured. By assuming a simple model of elongated stretched pores that either gives minimum-, mean- or maximum values for different parameters in orientated directions the measured data got almost described. However, some of the measured parameters follow the model clearly others doesn’t which might be the effect of transverse oriented pores or other microstructural or interfering reasons.
