Abstract

Summary

The Cretaceous Maiganga coalfield located in the Gongola Sub-basin of the Northern Benue Trough has mixed oil/gas potential but mainly gas prone based on the dominance of type III kerogen, eposited in sub-oxic to oxic conditions. this area is of semi-arid paleoclimate and is affected by the tectonic events of West and Central Africa during the Cretaceous period (passive continental margin).
