Abstract
The study of the Ruhuhu Basin is based on the field work and interpretation of sedimentary structures for the determination of Paleo-depositional environment, a total of 32 River sections were studied. This basin is regarded as analogous for the Permo-Triassic Formations. The basin display a range of depositional environment whereby the terrestrial braided fluvial channels dominated the older Formations while the deltaic and deep lake depositional environment dominated the middle and later Formations. The creation and variation of accommodation space through time related with the tectonic activities of initial rifting of Gondwanaland which led to the formation of sub-basins with their related deposits in the Ruhuhu Basin.
