Abstract
In this study, the aftershock sequence of the 02 March 2017 Samsat-Adiyaman earthquake (Mw=5.5) is analyzed by means of the b-value from the Gutenberg-Richter relation and the p-value from the Omori-Utsu relation. The homogeneous earthquake catalogue includes 508 events with ML ≥ 2.1. The magnitude of completeness MC is found 2.1 using maximum curvature method. The b-value is estimated 0.905±0.04. According to some previous studies, the high b-is value is characterized by low velocity and low density. And this result may show that the Adiyaman-Samsat earthquake occurred highly stressed area. The p-value (0.85) may evidence that the aftershock decay rate is slow for the March 2017, Adiyaman-Samsat earthquake. It is thought that this study may help seismic hazard and risk assessments for the Adiyaman region.
