Abstract

Summary

Multichannel analysis of surface wave (MASW) is a near-surface geophysical method to estimate shear wave velocities of subsurface layers. Dispersion curves can be obtained by processing multichannel seismic records. Frequency-dependent Rayleigh phase velocity results from the S wave velocity variations with depth. In this paper, dispersion curves are tried to fit by using Levenberg-Marquardt method. The process was carried out by a MATLAB program. The forward problem was solved by using a code that was developed by Supranata, Kalinski and Ye. On the other hand, the MATLAB code is developed by the author for the inversion process. Then, the developed code was tested with a synthetic and field data set. The results based on the synthetic and field examples suggest that the inversion method can be used for MASW.
