Abstract

Summary

The report considers such factor of formation of hydrocarbon accumulations in oil-bearing strata as organic porosity. Organic porosity is a void space of organic origin, formed as a result of the transformation of organic matter and the generation of hydrocarbons. Organic porosity can be captured and measured not only by electron microscopy, but also calculated on the basis of pyrolytic parameters determined by the Rock-Eval method.
