Abstract

Summary

The distribution of the Pre-Tertiary rocks in eastern Indonesia especially the Mesozoic reservoir is not as simple as it was interpreted before. Their facies distribution across the passive margin appear to be heavily influenced by old tectonic grains such as grabens that are now observable in recently available data utilized in this study. Similar to reservoir distribution, the Pre-Tertiary source rocks facies are also appear to be controlled by Paleozoic-Mesozoic grabens. New play system in Birds Head of Papua was identified as Triassic and Early Jurassic reservoir and Paleocene Daram Sandstone.
