Abstract

Summary

In this paper, the physical parameters have been measured on 14 specimens from tight oil reservoirs. And then, the brittleness index B1 of rocks was calculated by using the brittleness evaluation method of elastic parameters. We intensively research Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio that is observably correlative with rock brittleness. The results show that the Young’s modulus is slightly larger in full-water than in dry, while Poisson’s ratio is obviously larger in full-water state, because of the existence of pore fluid makes the rock harder to deformation, increasing the plasticity of the rocks. In addition, We analyzed the brittleness of tight oil rocks as a function of porosity, the B1 of samples decrease gradually with the increase of porosity in dry and full-water state, and the tendency of descending is stronger in full-water than in dry. The reason is that porosity increment leads to strain decrease, and finally decrease B1. Moreover, when the porosity is low, the B1 values of the full-water and dry samples are very close, and the difference of the B1 value will increase with the porosity increases. This research will provide an important basis for further rock physics studies and field applications of seismic exploration.
