Abstract

Summary

This study presents the application of an assisted history matching workflow to a large mature field, which utilises an ensemble of distinct geological scenarios to improve the total misfit by up to 22%.

Inadequacies in history matching of this field, which is interpreted as a simple prograding delta deposit, have led to the expansion of modelling efforts at a mature stage of field production. An ensemble of models, which represent distinctly different geological scenarios is used to account for a larger range of geological uncertainty within the history matching workflow.

The effective selection and modelling of these concepts has significantly improved on the total field misfit and provided a more robust platform for optimisation analysis for ongoing development.
