Abstract

Summary

The Neogene layers in Bohai Bay are mainly fluvial facies reservoirs with thin shaly interbeds inside. Constrained Sparse-Spike inversion (CSSI) and other traditional methods can characterise thick reservoirs well, but they are not effectively in delineating thin geological targets. In order to satisfy the requirements of oilfield development and reduce risks, the method of facies-control Geostatistical inversion based on strata structure analysis was used in recognizing thin shaly interbeds. The results show that this technique can explain the water injection problem effectively and provide significant references for injection wells and horizontal wells designing during the development stage of offshore oilfields.
