Abstract

Summary

We discuss fundamentals and approaches for marine Broadband Deghosting processes and explain pitfalls of existing methods used in industry, in particular on their stability and phase reliability which is often ignored. We present a new QC/diagnostic tool to assess the quality of the deghosting process applied to the data. The QC tool is based on matching filters between deghosted data and input data which reveal the phase and amplitude corrections from the applied deghosting process, at choice in time- and spatial windows. Using this tool, we show examples of better and poorer deghosting methods we have encountered.
