Abstract
Detection and localization of microseismic events with passive seismic data is one method for real-time overburden monitoring. An inhouse microseismic monitoring system initially developed for a mini-PRM system at Oseberg has been scaled up to process and analyse large amounts of passive data, acquired with the PRM system installed at the Grane field in the North Sea, in real time. The system is currently used for monitoring two injector wells. The sensitivity of the microseismic event detection system has been enhanced by improved processing of the data. Although no events related to injection have yet been detected, the sensitivity of the system is verified by detecting minor events caused by well operations. Hence, we believe that injection-related events above this signal level can be detected by the system.
