Abstract
Summary
The East Shetland Platform is an under-explored part of the North Sea with evidence for various active petroleum systems. Initial recent studies have confirmed the presence, structural and stratigraphic evolution of several sedimentary basins on the platform. Some of the basins are shown to have the potential to contain all the elements required to trap and contain hydrocarbons in the subsurface. The studies have also helped to frame the key uncertainties and possible risks that would need to be addressed during an exploration campaign.
