Abstract
In horizontal and inclined wells, oil-water two-phase stratified flow and annular flow are the two main flow patterns. Due to the influence of flow rate, water cut and pipeline inclination, the stratified flow and annular flow transfer characteristics and the transition boundary are not clear. Therefore, in this paper, we carry out relevant experiments to investigate the characteristics of stratified-flow and toroidal-flow transformation by which we obtain the two-phase oil-water flow pattern, and establish a transition prediction model of two-phase oil-water stratified flow and annular flow. In contrast to the conversion boundaries and criteria based on mixed Froude numbers, the prediction model uses non-constant Froude numbers, which are related to the inlet moisture content. The two flow transition boundaries obtained by the prediction model are in good agreement with the experimental results.
