Abstract
There are mainly two types of faults in the LD structural area in the northeastern Bohai Bay Basin, namely the early-stage NE-extending strike slip fault (Es~Ed3) and late-stage EW-extending fault (Ed12~Ng). Due to limited seismic data and weak activity of the late-stage strike-slip fault, it is difficult to know the pattern of the NE-extending strike-slip fault in the vertical. Two sets of interpretation schemes are proposed to characterize the shallow layer (Dongying Formation), either with or without strike-slip fault (respectively referred to as Schemes 1 and 2). Absent effective technical methods to verify the two interpretation schemes significantly hinder the further exploration in this area.
In this paper, a stress field simulation method based on structural model is proposed to verify the seismic interpretation results. When tectonic stress field simulated by the interpretation model is accurate, the rationality of the interpretation scheme can be verified through comparison with the actually calculated tectonic stress field. Scheme 1 is demonstrated to be more reasonable in the LD structural area, and it provides important guidance for comprehensive seismic interpretation and oil and gas exploration in this area.
