Abstract
Stereo-tomography is a distinctive tomographic method. In the previous work, we successfully extend the stereo-tomography from the B-spline based model representation to triangulated-mesh based model representation. In this abstract, along with a more practical work-flow being presented, triangulated stereo-tomography has been applied to the real data acquired in the South China Sea for the first time. After some key geological horizons have been picked based on an initial depth image with a highly efficient automatic tracking algorithm, we employ an automatic growth algorithm to accomplish the closure of the geological framework based on picked horizons. With the slowness within each block is assigned via a simple average based on the initial model, an initial triangulated model is build up. Then a stereo-tomography in triangulated model will be implemented. The real case study demonstrated that triangulated stereo-tomography can help refining the model output from conventional stereo-tomography. We expect that the inverted model can be used for reverse-time migration or as a better starting model for full-wave inversion.
